In many ways a companion song to All About You, as they were written around the same time. Lonely night, a girl who was a no show, and waiting for the morning light as a metaphor for hope. It was written during a long summer heat wave (30 plus degree centigrade temperatures and yes we live in a "temperate" climate) when sleep was at a premium.

Lyrics

Wait For The Light © Jeff Patch SOCAN

Wishing, watching, softly sigh and turn around
Inside, waiting, debating, I sit down
I didn't know you wouldn't show, I thought you'd come around
Summer heat's got me beat, finally getting down

Whispering trees, the midnight breeze, the moon lights up the ground
Beauty there that should be shared, lately I've found
That simple things have come to mean much more to me now
I wouldn't mind but all the time I'm finding out how

I could have loved you now
Where were you tonight?
I think we lost it somehow
Alone I wait for the light

Hot summer sounds surround me muted in the humid air
I'll toss and turn but sleep would come easier if I knew you cared
I'm trying to wind down so I can lay down tonight
But I won't go so I know I'll likely see the morning light

I could have loved you now
Where were you tonight?
I think we lost it somehow
Alone I wait for the light
