Jeff is now home and retired. Janet still goes to work while he stays at home and does little more than laze around and play music. It is his responsibility to at least get the dishes done before she gets home. The rest of the chores listed in the song are pure fantasy and Janet wishes he actually did a fraction of them. It is a lighthearted joke set to a simple rootsy melody.
